We all have our favourite songs come Christmas, whether you are a fan of the classical crooners or something a bit more pop-y, there is no escaping these songs that come back year after year. Do you want to know the best thing about Christmas songs? They’re easy to sing too! And to be honest, do you think most people care about anything beyond the chorus?
Christmas songs make great track filler for a karaoke party as they are instantly recognisable! Below I have collated a few of me and my friends’ favourite Christmas Karaoke Songs:
1- ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’- Slade
The moment I hear old Noddy Holder screaming ‘IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!’ I am instantly forced Into the Christmas spirit whether I like it or not! The song itself is simple and even I, with my mediocre singing talents, feel confident to belt this classic out at any Xmas party.
2- ‘Santa Baby’- Eartha Kitt
Eartha sweetly serenades Santa in this 1953 comic Christmas classic and is works just as well sung to a karaoke audience who have all had just a little bit too much Eggnog.
3- ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’- Paul McCartney
Another song that instantly fills me with the Christmas spirit, the actual singing has lots of breaks in-between to give you time to rock out some dance moves along to the synthesiser. It’ll make sure that both you and your audience are having a truly “wonderful Christmas time!”
4- ‘Merry Little Christmas’- Frank Sinatra
Croon away to your heart’s content with this absolute classic. This song has had plenty of covers over the year but something doesn’t quite beat the legend which is Frank Sinatra because, and I’m quoting a friend here, his voice “is melty melty smooshy fuzzy”. If you think you can match such a voice then why not choose this song for your Karaoke party?
5- ‘Fairytale of New York’- The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
This song is 26 years old this year so surely this instantly recognisable song is well worth a place at any Xmas get together? It also gives the perfect basis for a booze duet where you can argue away before reconciling in true Christmas style!
6- ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’- John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Euphoric and scathing, as hopeful as it is resigned, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s definitive festive peace-on-earth song has transcended its original anti-Vietnam War purpose to become a Christmas stalwart. Not as happy as Paul’s, this song has a deeper meaning and is eerily haunting.
